Petition: End the ELD Immediately

The Small Business Transportation Coalition, which seems to be on the side of truckers in most things, has started a petition on the Whitehouse site to immediately end the ELD mandate.  It got nearly 10000 signatures in its first few days.  At 100000 signatures the Whitehouse will give a response, like any petition on the site.  It does not guarantee the petition gets any legal action.

As regular readers know, I am in favor of the ELD because I think the more pressure put on the industry, the higher our pay.  Plus, who wants to work more or sit for free?  Without the ELD, there is absolutely no pressure or incentive for companies to pay you or get you moving.  I'm trying to make more, not work more.  The original article is HERE.  I do agree that the changes that were proposed will only help businesses.  3 hours to sit for free a day?  Not a great idea.  Yes, the ELD has made parking a disaster, more than it even was.  That just highlights what needs to change in trucking.  The whole industry is stuck in a 1960s mindset and needs updating on the way we are paid, where we park and a slew of other things.
