Today is scary for children and it is a scary day for any adult who is calling the Crap Company of the Week! Don't let them spook you with their smoke and mirrors. I have been looking into this company and I agree with all of you. Also, many of you suggested Carolina Cargo so I called them and I will have a short video soon about what they told me. It won't be on a Wednesday if that tells you anything.
Do to some dental work and plenty of vacation days left, next weekend will be a 4 day weekend for me and I will be doing some updates on the site and adding more information. It should be up by the 13th. Be extra careful today with all the children out and about. They aren't paying attention. See you on the road!

The ebook is here! It has been posted and you can get it here. It took longer than I thought and I am sorry for that. If it goes well and you enjoy it I will write on other subjects like going in depth on logging and getting really into other things in the trucking industry.
This has put a hold on videos but I will be back to them tomorrow with a new Crap Company of the Week! See you on the road! I have some dental work scheduled and I will have some time off of work due to that so I will be updating the website the weekend of the 9th of November. I will add more trucking company pages and in general put more information on here for everyone to use. Not too much of a response to the small chat for new drivers so that likely won't continue. I want to be there for people in whatever way they want. Apparently this is not one of those ways. Be sure to join me on the regular live chat today at 1pm on YouTube! See you on the road! The Wall Street Journal recently reported that revenue for carriers is rising at between 9 and 20% from the same time last year. So, why aren't drivers realizing some of this money? Although many companies are raising pay, drivers still sit with any compensation for hours at a time. What is the solution? Stop doing it. Drivers aren't being paid because we don't demand to be paid. Look, these companies are experiencing record revenue per mile so don't let them bamboozle you into thinking there is time that should not be paid. Demand to be paid or stop working there. I am convinced that is the only solution. Many places do pay for all of our time so stop thinking that your time isn't worth anything.
See you on the road! Are you a new driver, a student driver or interested in becoming a driver? I am considering starting a chat that would be just for you! It would be a limited chat to say no more than 10 people. This way, everyone can get their questions answered and be sure to get them in as there would be a limited number of people in the room. Also, people can learn from the questions of others. They may ask things that you weren't thinking about. There would be a small investment for this but with limited people in the room you will really be able to have your questions considered and not have them get lost in the large regular live chat that goes on every Monday at 1pm. I am thinking the first one would be Monday at 11am if there is any interest. Please email me if you are interested and I will send back the details. Only the first 10 people would be able to be in as I want to keep the room size small. This would take place on YouTube in a non-public live stream. Let me know as soon as possible to get in before the room fills up!
See you on the road! First, I want to thank everyone for joining the Nation. I put out a newsletter but now that there are so many who have joined my email service is blocking the sending of it as it thinks it is spam. So, I am getting a service to send them out to you. This will happen shortly and the newsletter will be back to its regular schedule. I have been at the dentist lately so there has been a lull in my blog posts. That will resume now as well. 10000 SUBSCRIBERS! Today Trucking Answers hit 10000 subscribers! That is amazing and I thank everyone of you that subscribes. What do you want to see in the future? I have a number of videos coming up that are suggestions. Let me know what you want to see!
See you on the road! I always get tons of grief over this but I am not a fan of percentage pay. When rates are up, like now, drivers are all about it and seem to benefit. When rates are low, drivers are all crying in their chicken fried steak over it. I think drivers should get hourly plus overtime right from the ELD. Stop fighting over percentage or mileage or whatever. All time working should be paid. That is all time driving or on-duty. There is no reason now that this can't happen. With the PAM lawsuit and others like England and Werner that have settled these issues in court, our time is now. Keep pushing to be paid for all of your time.
Remember, LIVE show today at 1pm EST! Be there! See you on the road! KOMO news reports that a truck was following GPS, of course, and went up a steep hill. He lost traction and started heading back down the hill. Upon hitting the brakes, the load of 2 pound metal balls exploded out of the truck and hurtled down the hill. Six cars were damaged but no one was injured by his balls early release. Lesson: Keep your balls secured until you want to release them. Early release of your balls can result in unexpected consequences.
See you on the road! Today I bring you Barr-Nunn. I think they are doing it better by having good pay and good hometime with extra time you can earn that is paid time off. This way, drivers can get some more home time with their families and not have to worry so much about the money aspect. This place was going to start me 15 cents more than Star in yesterday's video. That is a considerable amount of money over a year. I always say that it can't just be about the money but it is always at least about the money somewhat. Let me know what you think! Are you on Instagram? So am I! Head on over there and follow me! See you on the road! Some companies just don't want to talk. Not only Stevens, now its Covenant. I tried to get some information from them but they weren't interested. Again, they wanted me to apply and a recruiter would be in touch. That's crazy. They figure once you apply they will just wear you down into working there. Their website lists some pay and its low, like 52 cents for teams. That isn't great. Either way, a company should give you information if you want it. They are the ones that set up the recruiting number. Its just aggravating.
I'll be talking about per diem Friday and why I think its not a great deal, especially if they reduce your pay to get it. I hope you'll watch and tell me what you think. See you on the road! |
AuthorHi! Welcome. I'm Mark and I've been a professional truck driver for over 33 years, the last 19 years at the same company. It is time that drivers got paid for every minute that we work and we are treated like the licensed professionals we are. Archives
