Through Sept 9, the FMCSA is taking public comments on Detention in the Trucking Industry. Do you have anything to say about that? You should. During the HOS comments only 5000 drivers left a comment. Why? There should be 500000 comments. Anyway, they want to know about detention, how long is too long, when should detention start and several other things. You can get all the questions and instructions on how to leave you comments HERE. Please be respectful as I am sure other types of comments are ignored. The real problem isn't with detention, it is with pay. If truck drivers were paid for all of their time detention would be less of a problem. First, drivers would not mind near as much sitting if they were getting paid. Plus, their company would have every incentive to get them out of there and get them moving. Right now no one cares because it is not costing anyone anything. This is what needs to end. Drivers need to stop sitting for free and start getting paid what they are worth. You get what you will accept so stop accepting nothing and demand to be paid for your time. Don't let companies use you without compensation. I also did a video about this. It is somewhat noisy and I am looking into a better outdoor microphone so bear with me. The info is still there. Leave you comment and be sure to tell the FMCSA that truck drivers should get paid for all of our time, just like every other employee in America.
See you on the road!

AuthorHi! Welcome. I'm Mark and I've been a professional truck driver for over 33 years, the last 19 years at the same company. It is time that drivers got paid for every minute that we work and we are treated like the licensed professionals we are. Archives
